Requirements

To become a GENERAL VOLUNTEER, you must:

1) Be age 14 or older. If under 18 years old, a Parental Consent Form must be completed and submitted.

2) Commit to volunteering at least 2-4 hours per week, for a minimum of 3 months.

3)  Pass a health screening that consists of:

  • A record of a negative tuberculosis skin test (PPD) or chest x-ray completed in the last 6 months
  • A record of immunity to Rubella and Rubeola (measles) and Mumps (MMR).

Most students have immunization records from school. If you do not have immunization records, you should make an appointment with your personal doctor, student health clinic or a public health clinic to receive/confirm your immunizations and tuberculosis skin test or chest x-ray.

Under certain circumstances some volunteers may be eligible to be tested at the hospital’s occupational health clinic. Please contact the Volunteer Program to discuss this option.
